Knowle Farm Estate: Curated from the Soil Up

Knowle Farm Estate is a magical 90 acres of pasture and woodland near Glastonbury, farmed by past generations.

The farm had fallen dormant but James and Imogen fell in love with this extraordinary place, known locally by some as paradise valley, as soon as they saw it.

Since moving here, they have slowly started to bring it back to life as a farm, with two clear aims: to manage the land naturally and enhance biodiversity, and to ensure the highest quality of life for their livestock.

This means:

- native and rare breed animals that are slow-grown and grazed outside all year round

- lush Somerset grass that is the result of soil health built through good management, avoiding artificial fertilisers and pesticides

- animals that live longer, happier and healthier lives. And - eventually -produce meat of exceptional quality.

The farm is led by Will Carter, a third-generation farmer who has focused on rotating grazing and using traditional methods to work with natural rhythms of the seasons and bring this vision to life.

For the whole team, farming means working alongside this ancient farmland, not against it. This provides not only the best possible results for our land and our animals, but also a vital sense of continuity with the past, and the preservation of our English countryside for the future.
