Knowle Farm Estate: Curated from the Soil Up
James and Imogen didn't set out to be farmers. They set out to find something better.
Better food. A better relationship with the land. A better answer to the question of where their meat actually came from. That search led them to Knowle Farm Estate - 90 acres of lush Somerset pasture near Glastonbury - and to a way of farming built on one belief: that animals raised on good grass, on genuinely well-tended land, produce something extraordinary.
Guided by Will Carter, a third-generation farmer with a lifetime of hands-on knowledge, every decision here is made with purpose. Native breeds. Unhurried, grass-fed grazing. Time and care at every stage - nothing rushed, nothing wasted, from the soil up.
The meat speaks for itself. We're not quite ready to share it yet - but we'd love you to be the first to know when we are.

Stewardship
We see ourselves as caretakers, not owners. This Somerset land has been farmed for generations and our intention is to hand it on in better shape than we found it. Every decision - from how we rest our pastures to how we manage our hedgerows - is made with the long view in mind.

Animal Welfare
Our animals live as they were meant to - outdoors, on grass, unhurried. We choose native breeds because they thrive in this landscape, and we give them the time and space to do exactly that. Slow-grown, well-raised, and treated with genuine respect from day one.

Sustainability
Good farming doesn't take more than it gives back. We work with natural rhythms - rotating our grazing, building soil health, and keeping our footprint light. It's not a trend for us. It's just the right way to farm.
Something worth waiting for...
Later this year, Knowle Farm Estate will offer a small number of seasonal meat boxes - lamb, pork, and beef, raised on our Somerset pasture and delivered to your door. Limited in number, because that's the point.

Lamb

Native breeds, slow-grazed on ancient Somerset meadows. Seasonal, unhurried, and exactly as good as it sounds.

Pork

Free-range and outdoor-reared, with the depth of flavour that only comes from animals that have genuinely lived well.

Beef

Grass-fed, native breed beef from cattle that have spent their lives on our pasture. Worth every day of the wait.

Meet the team...
James spent his career as a planner - thinking in decades, reading landscapes, imagining what places could become. Imogen built hers in consultancy - asking better questions, solving complex problems, making things work properly. When they found Knowle Farm Estate, something clicked into place.
This was the project they'd been building towards without knowing it. Ninety acres of Somerset pasture with the potential to be something genuinely special - if they were willing to do it right. So that's exactly what they're doing.
Together with Will Carter, a third-generation farmer who brings the hands-on knowledge their vision needs, James and Imogen are building a farm that reflects everything they believe good food should be: carefully considered, honestly produced, and rooted in the land it comes from.

The way we farm...
"From the soil up means exactly what it says. Every decision we make - how we rest our pastures, what breeds we rear, how long we take - starts with the ground beneath our feet. The result is meat that tastes of where it came from. We wouldn't have it any other way."
